I wanted to fairly share this story with all you. As students of A Course In Miracles, one of my goals is to check out each moment as an opportunity to practice forgiveness.
I had one of those moments another day. This was a subtle, yet very tangible connection with the ability of forgiveness in our everyday lives.
I had just finished my night with the band I work with regularly in Las Vegas best a course in miracles podcasts. A patron had thrown a $100 chip up onto the stage as a tip.(Nice!) So I went to the casino cage to profit this chip and so the band could split it up.
As I was waiting in line, another man came out and simply walked right facing me. He didn’t look my way, he just acted as though I was invisible, and proceeded to stand facing me. So, my first instict is, like, “uh, you’re NOT going to cut facing me, pal”, and I started getting all tense and red in the facial skin and all that. And this person, who cut, then was grumbling to himself about how long it absolutely was taking in the line!! “Oh, man what are they doing back there, oh, come ON!!” Geez.
But I remembered the Course and what it says, so I seriously considered taking a look at this situation differently. I thought, what does it matter if he goes first anyways? Could it be going to kill me if I wait yet another 30 seconds to profit this chip which I was fortunate to have in the first place? You know, maybe this person just gambled away his whole house or something!
